1. At the beginning of the day I passed a vocal demonstration that was held outside both the Indian Embassy and Claridges. There was something poignant I felt in how this demonstration was Contained. One side of the road was closed off, the bus stop was closed. There were a lot of police. And demonstrators. For the space in which to demonstrate. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
2. Later in the day I walked in the shadow of The Chinese New Year celebrations around Leicester Square. It was eerie and silent, again roads were closed off. But I caught a glimpse (above), managing to take just this photo before my phone died. For celebration, ceremony, dragons dancing in the street and for Chinese lanterns. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
3. I swam in the wind and in the rain. The swimming regime is making me tired, but it is also exhilarating. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
4. On the 172 bus, upstairs, at the front I found a £10.00 note. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
5. I walked in the rain and had a long wait for the bus. I was soaked through to the skin when I came back and my face was red with cold. The walk, down Charing Cross Road and along the Strand, took me past a homeless man in a wheelchair and others huddled in doorways, for shelter warmth, resilience (for everyone as a basic human right) Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
6. Currently I have about my person a bottle of good red wine. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
7. I spoke with my son Zach. He told me that he has been asked to light a candle at the Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony, on behalf of the first year students at Exeter University. I am proud. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
8. My diary, for the week ahead, is looking full. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
