After many years of trying I made a perfect honey cake

Gratitude List 26/9/22

1. For blessing apples and honey, a sweet start to the New Year: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

2. Friends came to the table. For laughter, tears and for connection: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

3. After many years of trying I made a perfect honey cake. For nourishment. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

4. Zachary, my younger son left yesterday for his last year at Uni. It is entirely right and proper that he goes. Yet for one moment it felt as if my heart was breaking. For love, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

5. Another dog, Ralphie joined The Patterdale whose name is Flo at the table last night. For the utmost skill in entreaty and extraction (of roast chicken). Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

6. I begin to understand more of the complexity and joy which makes up every moment. Indeed we are blessed: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

7. A hole was torn in the fabric of a friendship of a person that I adore. Slowly and carefully, painfully, we make repair. Without this repair, my world would fall away. For grace, compassion and love: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

8. As I write this list, I also give consideration to my 'to-do' list for later today. I will not have time to do everything. For business and engagement: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

9. Later today I will work at the Red Table in Watkins. For the privilege of work, of being received: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

10. I am writing at 6.30 am. The day stretches before me, containing certainties and uncertainties. For anticipation, for adventure: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
