Gratitude List: 25/10/23
For lunch with a friend, stories around the table and kindness. Deepest gratitude: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
The ap 'Todays Tix', waved a (very cheap) last minute ticket in my direction. This was Noises Off at The Royal Haymarket. For a trip to The Theatre: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Without the tempting offer, I would not necessarily have chosen Noises Off. Initially I was inclined to be snooty. Everyone around me was laughing hysterically. For being enticed to smile, despite myself: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
A flamboyant person who sat just behind, captivated me through his recounting his life to his neighbours (whom he evidently had only just met). For shameless eavesdropping and blood thirsty episodes from 'real life', Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Noises Off stars Felicity Kendal. She has been part of my life, well on the TV anyway. For remembering the times that I watched 'The Good Life', so many eons ago. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Felicity is now 77 years old. She gave a sterling performance that was full of mastery. She still has her sweet sunflower signature smile. For endurance: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
I can find it daunting to go to the theatre on my own. Yet people are kind and chat a little, which eases me. For the kindness of strangers: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
The lovely thing about Theatres is that there are usually angels to be found. In the decorations for one thing, In The Royal Haymarket there are depicted on the ceiling. However I believe that they are in attendance, in actuality, attracted in by the raised vibration of the laughter and music. For angels: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
I am becoming mean. I will not pay £5.00 for a minuscule ice-cream ! For large ice creams, especially from Gelupo on Archer Street. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
On the way there, I walked to the Royal Haymarket, around past Trafalgar Square and through the back roads. When the performance finished I came home via Leicester Square. For rat runs and safe passage:Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
