For haphazardness, wonder and the freedom of the day: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You.

Gratitude List 5/4/23

  1. Today marks the beginning of Pesach and the day of the first Passover Seder. If we were a orthodox Jewish household, the whole house would be shining and the crockery swopped over. However we are reform, and I have made my own illogical compromises. Put into practise, this simply means that for this moment the flat is cleaner than usual: For clean space, and the luxury of the feeling that it brings: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

  2. Within house chores Flo's needs must also be met. I take her to St Giles Church Yard, which is closer than Lincoln Inn Fields. However this did not prove to be a time saving exercise. Whilst I was speaking with other dog walkers, she snuck off out of sight and rolled in something unspeakable. For Soap and hot water: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You

  3. Kind and lovely clients arrived during the day. The longer that I work the less I take it for granted. When I start I am always conscious of the unplanned empty space of the work that looms in front of me. And then grateful when the work is completed. For work: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

  4. Josh Zach and myself are guests at Karen and Marc's Seder. I promise a contribution of desert, Charoset, and a piece of horse radish root. For the honour of giving: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You.

  5. I decide upon a sacher torte for desert. It is a recipe from the back of Merel's Book"The Lost Cafe Schindler". I substitute almonds for flour and hold my breath. For new recipes: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You.

  6. I know perfectly well that it would have been wise to trial the recipe in the first instance. For risk: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You.

  7. In the event, I left things too late, because I lacked time and patience. This meant that I tried to take the cake out of its tins too quickly and it collapsed. I had to rebrand. For the desert now called Pavlova that might also border on becoming an Eton Mess. Thank You, Thank You. Thank You

  8. We had a lovely Seder. For family: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You

  9. For kindness, warmth and being made welcome: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You

  10. For haphazardness and wonder and the freedom of the day: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You.
