Gratitude List 6/5/23
For the rain in St Martins Lane, that caused the pavements to shine. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Apparently, although I did not actually see the drama, arrests were made in St Martins Lane, early in the morning. These were people protesting against the Coronation. For democracy and for justice. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
The procession passed the corner of Trafalgar Square. It felt very archaic, but nothing could be heard. Only the sound of church bells and rain. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
It amused me to see people standing on bins, to get a better view. For innovation and improvisation: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Flo and I walked to the Embankment Gardens. These gardens walked straight out of Mary Poppins. Tulips stand to attention and wallflowers dazzle. Wonderfully for London, birds sing. Although it was busy, Flo still had a run off the lead. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Policemen and Women, of whom there were many, stopped to chat to Flo. I think that her lead attracts them. It has 'caution do not pet written on it'. Perhaps the word caution belongs to the police. For amusement: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
It is strange when a major event is held in this corner of London. On the one hand everywhere feels constricted, as certain routes are closed off. Yet on the other hand some roads are repurposed as promenades, and people, including my self have the freedom of walking on them without traffic. Today both The Strand and Charing Cross Road were closed to traffic. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
In honour of my family elders, I relented slightly and joined in by making an old fashioned fruit cake from a readers recipe in The Times. It tasted like the rock cakes of my childhood and was devoured in minutes (not by me). Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
This was an interesting day, with a lot to see and give thought too: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
There were many showers, many umbrellas and a lot of different energies in the day. Again this was most interesting. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
